Mooring Chain

Mooring chains, as the name suggests, are used to fasten boats, floats, etc. to the shore or to other objects in the water. High tensile strength chains are used in marine construction projects. Fish/shrimp farming pens make use of this type of chains too. Since these chains need to be highly corrosion resistant, stainless steel is preferred over iron ones where the budget permits. But zinc plating can alleviate corrosion to an admirable extent. It is also easier to hook up shackles anywhere in mooring chains because of the long links.

Beaded chains

Beaded chains are connected hollow metal spheres with dumb bell-like links, and are commonly used as pull chains for electrical devices and appliances. Gold, silver and brass beaded chains are also extensively used in jewellery making.

Machine Chain

Machine chains, with the short compact links, are best suited to applications which require maximum flexibility, but not a very high tensile strength. This is a light duty chain and can be used in tailgates, overhead doors, etc. For good quality straight link and twist link machine chains, call Baron Hardware at 800-368-8585 to order or visit www.baronhardware.com for more details.

Passing Link Chain

If you need a chain that will not kink or knot easily, passing link chains would serve the purpose well. The broad links make these chains very useful in farms and certain industrial applications.

Coil Chain

This simplest and oldest type of chain, made of straight metal bars bent, looped and welded shut, is still used in many industrial applications. If you are restocking your shelves with this must-have chain, reach out to Baron Hardware now and have the chains delivered to you within 3 days of ordering, anywhere in the USA!

Shackles

Anchor shackles are majorly used to secure a chain to the ring of an anchor. These are bow shaped and because of their shape can be used in multiple sling-leg connections in rigging, and in side-loading applications. Chain shackles or D-shackles, on the other hand, tend to kink with side loads.
